Telemedicine

Edgerton Veterinary Clinic tries hard to provide our clients with the equipment and expertise needed to diagnose and treat their pet’s problem. But sometimes it becomes necessary to consult a specialist to proceed with diagnosis or therapy. We offer therapy by referral to several specialists in our region of the state and will recommend referral when it is indicated.
There are, however, barriers to this type of treatment. Cost can be a factor and distance to travel can also be a concern. Time off of work can be difficult to arrange for some clients. We know you want to provide the best possible care for your pet and we have ways to help. When referral consultations become necessary for your pet, we offer referrals via telemedicine.
Current technology allows uploading of important case data using the Internet to veterinary specialists in medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, cardiology, pathology, radiology and ultrasound. At Edgerton Veterinary Clinic we can convert images from x-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, microscopy, photos and printed text to digital files that can be viewed by specialists in another state or another country. When these images are presented with detailed descriptions of history and physical assessment the specialist can aide in formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Telemedicine has been a valuable asset in many cases during the past year. We have used this technology in several areas and have been very pleased with the results. If you are not a regular client of Edgerton Veterinary Clinic, telemedicine is available to you by referral from your regular veterinarian. Edgerton Veterinary Clinic would be happy to work with you and your doctor to provide a telemedicine consult for your pet.
