How does it work?
VetCentric Pharmacy uses a unique web portal for each veterinary clinic. This helps to organize prescriptions in a logical fashion, and provide enhanced records for the veterinarian. Veterinarians write prescriptions for a patient using this portal and place the prescription and refills in a patient’s “Medicine Cabinet”. Clients access the portal from a link on their veterinarian’s web site using a login (user ID and password) supplied to them by the vet. Clients then purchase at their convenience and enjoy home delivery of the medicine their pet requires.
Who should use an online pharmacy?
Any veterinary client can take advantage of online convenience, but the benefit is greatest for a client who’s pet is taking chronic (long term) medication. These chronic medications commonly include, but are not limited to, heart medicines, arthritis drugs, skin treatments, allergy medicine, thyroid supplements and anti-seizure drugs.
You may also benefit using an online pharmacy if you own multiple pets and can place large orders. Or you may just enjoy the timesavings and convenience associated with this type of purchase. In any case, we understand and would like to help you save time and money with VetCentric.
How do I get started?
Just call or email our office. We can let you know if your pet’s medication is available through VetCentric and give you information about the cost. If you ask us, we can then set up a VetCentric account for you and write the prescription online. You are free to shop the Internet for price if you like, we will prescribe to the pharmacy of your choice. But please remember that VetCentric represents a tremendous value because they work within the relationship we have already established.
Shipping Fees
Medications
For all prescription medications, as well as custom compounded preparations, the cost of shipping with AutoRefill (from your VetCentric account) is FREE as of January 1, 2010. AutoRefill is a feature available for prescribed medications used long term by your pets. Prescription medications ordered without AutoRefill ship at a standard fee of $5.99. Packages are shipped through the United States Postal Service First Class; Two-Day (via UPS), Overnight and Saturday (via USPS) upgrades are available for an additional charge.
Therapeutic Diets
All therapeutic dies are shipped UPS ground. Shipping and handling fees are determined by the weight of the individual case or bag and are applied to each case and/or bag delivered. Therefore, if two bags or cases of therapeutic diets are shipped, two shipping fees will be incurred. See the example below.
Example One: 2 - 6# bags of food ordered = cost of food + (2 x $9.99) $18.98 shipping cost
Example Two: 1 -30# bag of food ordered = cost of food + (1 x $14.99) $14.99 shipping cost
